This is one of the most spectacular courses in the region with breathtaking views on every hole, and in fact is repeatedly rated as one of the best in the whole of Spain.
Designed by the legendary architect Jose Gancedo, whose philosophy is, why move the earth when a golf hole should follow the natural contours? The course features a challenging layout over mountainous terrain for the bold & the accurate. Right in the mountains and very exposed to the wind, it reserves every sort of surprise to the extent where certain "normal" holes look positively insipid.
The Monte Mayor golf course winds its way through rocks & streams, crosses gorges and runs down hills amidst wild thick vegetation. The local rules are pretty lenient, as any lost ball is considered to be in a side water hazard.
